HISTORY OF CALVARY LUTHERAN CHURCH AND SCHOOL

 WISCONSIN SYNOD

1964 –2004

You plant a seed so that it grows. 

The tall trees that line our streets and the beautiful flowers that decorate our homes all started as small seeds. 

40 years ago God planted a seed in North Dallas called Calvary Lutheran Church.  During those 40 years Calvary has experienced Growing In Christ.  Today it stands as a beautiful branch of the vine, Jesus Christ.

Growing in Christ – that is the theme of this booklet, just as it has been the theme that has driven the entire history of Calvary Lutheran Church and School.  We pray that the seed planted and nurtured by God’s grace 40 years ago will still be growing 40 years from now.

 The Germinating Seed    1962 – 1964

Although the seed of Calvary Lutheran Church would not be formally planted until February of 1964, already as early as 1962 the seed was germinating….…..

 The Planted Seed    1964 – 1971

The seed that had germinated for many months within the hearts of the core group of Calvary was now ready to be planted and begin sinking some roots in North Dallas…..….

 The Sprouting Seed    1972 – 1989

For eight years God had been planting and nurturing the seed of Calvary Lutheran Church with his powerful Word.  In those years the seed of Calvary had sprouted other congregations…...

 The Growing Seed    1990 – 2004

Calvary could already see the sprouting seed growing in 1990……..
